Sheep and Goat Insurance

Scope

This insurance policy provides protection for sheep and goats against death caused by accidents, including incidents such as fire, lightning, floods, cyclones, famine, earthquakes, landslides, strikes, riots and diseases that occur during the period of insurance. The coverage is based on the market value of the insured animals at the insurable age specified in the policy.

Exclusions

Common Exclusions:
The policy does not cover:

  1. Malicious or intentional harm, neglect, overloading or unskilled handling.
  2. Using animals for purposes not mentioned in the policy without written consent.
  3. Accidents or diseases occurring before the start of coverage.
  4. Slaughter, unless certified by a qualified veterinarian as necessary to prevent suffering or ordered by lawful authorities.
  5. Theft or secret sale of insured animals.
  6. War, rebellion or related events.
  7. Damage caused by nuclear weapons.
  8. Any form of consequential loss.
  9. Transport by air or sea.
  10. Non-scheme disease claims within 15 days of policy commencement.

Specific Exclusions:
Diseases like Enterotoxaemia, Sheep Pox, Goat Pox, Rinderpest, Foot & Mouth Disease, Anthrax and H.S.B.Q. are excluded unless the animals are properly vaccinated and veterinary certificates are provided.

Claims Procedure

In case of death, please inform the company immediately and submit:

  1. A completed claim form
  2. A death certificate from a qualified veterinarian (on company form)
  3. A post-mortem report by a qualified veterinary doctor
  4. The animal’s ear tag
